In partnership with North Central University, we offer online degree plans. Through enrolling in North Central University classes as a Heartland student, students will receive hands-on experience with a high-quality college education all at an affordable price. The Associate of Arts in Church Leadership is a 60-credit degree that will take approximately 2-3 years to complete. Courses consist of general classes, biblical classes, and leadership classes. Additionally, this degree will fulfill the educational requirements to become a Certified Minister with the Assemblies of God. 


As a Heartland student, you can cover up to 10 credits of your degree through Integrated Learning Experiences (ILEs), which means you get credit for the ministry experience you receive at Heartland.

*Our default degree options are the Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Church Leadership and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Church Leadership. Other degrees may be offered depending on student interest. For degrees other than the A.A. and B.S. in Church Leadership, a $200 book fee will be applied to the HMC Program Fee and materials outside of books (such as digital software and instruments) may not be covered by Heartland. **Note that if a student opts for a non-ministry major instead of the A.A. or B.S. in Church Leadership, they may have to look for opportunities outside of Heartland to fulfill some of the ILE requirements.

North central university

North Central University: 

North Central University (NCU) is a regionally accredited Assembly of God university located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Heartland Ministry + College is an academic partner of NCU, therefore our students have the option to enroll in classes through North Central University and receive academic credit for their classwork. Ability to take classes through NCU is contingent on acceptance from North Central University (see information about enrolling below). North Central University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), one of six regionally-accrediting institutions within the United States. The HLC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

how it works

Students will apply and enroll in online classes through North Central University. While attending Heartland, students are able to enjoy the flexibility of an online education with the benefits of working alongside classmates in-person at Heartland's campus. Heartland Ministry + College incorporates academic time within its weekly schedule as well as offers HMC staff on-site to assist students with their academic journey.


How to Enroll:

  1. Apply to Heartland here
  2. Once you're accepted at Heartland, apply to North Central University at https://www.northcentral.edu/admissions/apply-now/. Indicate that you are an online student, taking undergraduate courses, and associated with the Academic Church Partner Heartland Ministry + College.
  3. Submit high school and any college transcripts to North Central University admissions at admissions@northcentral.edu.
  4. To see if you are eligible for Financial Aid, submit your FAFSA (code: #002369).
